Deep Breathing Technique

Gina

Taking deep breaths is a great way to help our bodies calm down during big emotions. Teaching proper technique will help kids to begin to do this independently.

Material: Flower/Candle Breathing Visual (available as a free resource in our shop).

How To:

  • "Smell the flower" = deep breath in and hold

  • "Blow out the candle" = slow exhale out

  • Repeat 3 times

Once kiddos understand the concept, you can remove the verbal prompt and just point to the sign or point to your nose as a cue to start taking those deep breaths!
